Ride to Hell Retribution (Incl. DLC)

Have you ever asked yourself "What in hell is a bad game?" Well, look no further than Ride to Hell Retribution, a game released in 2013 to much anticipation as a spiritual successor to the beloved Road Rash series of the 90s.

Ride to Hell Retribution is an overly ambitious open world game set in the 1960s during the unrest of the Vietnam War. The player takes on the role of Jake Conway, a decorated Vietnam veteran who returns home to find that his brother has been killed in a gang-related accident. Seeking revenge, Jake embarks on a mission to take control of three gangs in the area and exact his revenge.

Unfortunately, it's quickly apparent that Ride to Hell Retribution fails to live up to the hype. Its mechanics are clunky, with unresponsive controls that make it difficult to complete even the simplest objectives. Its story is minimalistic, with cookie-cutter archetypes, convoluted dialogue trees, and an overall lack of interesting characters or narrative progression. The game also suffers from a severe lack of polish and graphical fidelity, with textures popping in and out of focus and animations that are stiff and robotic.

The one redeeming feature of the game is its downloadable content, which provides players with brand new levels and objectives to complete. But even then, the content is still bogged down by the game's myriad of problems. In the end, Ride to Hell Retribution is a game that fails to impress and does not deserve to be a part of the legacy of the Road Rash series.

If you are a fan of the Road Rash series, you would be better off avoiding Ride to Hell Retribution. Instead, leave it in Hell where it belongs.
